For this year’s Only Connect festival that is inspired by the writings of JG Ballard, nyMusikk has made a collection of essays that examine Ballard’s ideas from different angles, with texts by Norwegian and international writers, authors and artists.

Ballard’s world has left its clear mark on culture, and his visions have for a long time inspired musicians and artists. The contributors to the collection are: critic Simon Reynolds (on Ballard and music), Ballard scholar Simon Sellars (on Oslo seen from GoogleEarth), journalist Fredrik Giertsen (on Ballard and Oslo’s urban development), critic Maria Moseng (on Ballard and film), writer and filmmaker Iain Sinclair (on Millenium People), musician Jacob Holm-Lupo (about Vermillion Sands), music writer Tore Stavlund (on music, Ballard and Oslo's east end), as well as editor Leif Bull (on the novel High Rise).

The texts will be accompanied by a photo essay by Eline Mugaas and photographs by Niklas Lello of Oslo’s urban landscapes. The photographs add a visual resonance to Ballard’s ideas.

The collection’s editors are nyMusikk’s Artistic Director Anne Hilde Neset and festival co-curator and writer Audun Vinger.
