ONLY CONNECT FESTIVAL OF SOUND 2016:
Ghédalia Tazartès & Maya Dunietz
Israeli free improvising pianist and vocalist Maya Dunietz investigates the connections between music, visual art, performance, technological research and philosophy. Her works are commissioned by renowned performers and ensembles, and she has created site-specific sound-performances for institutions such as the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and Arnolfini in Bristol. Dunietz has worked with artists such as John Butcher, Zeena Parkins, and Steve Noble, to name a few.
Here she encounters Ghédalia Tazartès, a French musician of Turkish origins. He is an uncompromising artist who defies categorization; switching from musique concrète to existing or invented ethnic music, from poetry to noise, or from loops and collages to sad and extremely beautiful tunes.
