The ILIOS festival 2013
The Ilios festival for New Music is run by nyMusikk Harstad, a subsidiary of nyMusikk. The festival takes its name from the Greek sun god Ilios, and reflects the sun’s return to this region, which lies north of the Arctic Circle. The festival always takes place over the fifth weekend of each year, when the the sun reappears at Harstad.
In more than 20 years of existence, Ilios has become one of the most established European festivals of New Music. Over four days, featuring around 20 different productions, the festival showcases a huge variety of contemporary music, occasionally in collaboration with other art forms, in a mixture of established concert venues and unconventional spaces.
