nyMusikk and Hamar kulturhus:
Opening of the Pauline Hall hall
A new hall in Hamar kulturhus is named after nyMusikk's founder, Pauline Hall. As both a critic and composer, she was a prominent person in the Norwegian music scene in the early 20th century. Hall was born and raised in Hamar.
Singer, music writer and professor in musicology at the University of Oslo, Astrid Kvalbein, leads the opening of the hall in Hamar kulturhus. Kvalbein trained at the Norwegian Academy of music, where she in 2013 completed the doctorate "Musical modernization. Pauline Hall (1890-1969) as a composer, theater critic and nyMusikk leader."
Artistic director, Anne Hilde Neset, will tell more about nyMusikk's work and why this organization was important to Pauline Hall.
Cikada, one of Norway's finest ensembles in contemporary music, ends the evening with a concert.
iPad workshop nyMusikk Kids will be held earlier in the day.
