Nate Wooley: For/With
+ Eivind Lønning
Trumpeter Nate Wooley visits Oslo and nyMusikk with the first traveling presentation of his New York based For/With Festival. The venture presents works created as collaborations between composers and performers, with a particular emphasis on radical timbre and new approaches to instrumental virtuosity.
For this concert, Wooley performs works by electronic music composers Éliane Radigue and Annea Lockwood, as well as an improvised set together with Norwegian trumpeter Eivind Lønning.

Éliane Radigue Occam X (2014)
Composed for Nate Wooley beginning in 2012, Occam X is the generative idea for For/With. Radigue "transmitted" the composition to Wooley over a series of meetings taking place between 2012 and 2014. The work was refined through these meetings and continues to be a work in progress with continual communication between the composer and the performer. The composition has never been written down and lives only in the memories of the two people involved in making it.
Annea Lockwood (with Nate Wooley) Becoming Air (2018)
for trumpet, tam-tam, and amplifier feedback
Featured in 2018's festival, Becoming Air is one of the finest examples of the growth of a composition from the back and forth between composer and performer. Becoming Air is, like Occam X, an ever-evolving work with a shifting narrative and a soundworld that is a mixture of both Lockwood and Wooley, each personality becoming indistinguishable from the other.
