About us

nyMusikk is Norway’s centre for experimental music and sound art with over 75 years experience in commissioning, producing, curating and presenting new music and sound-based work. Through live music, screenings, installations, readings and lectures we arrange events exploring sound and music’s relationship with other art forms such as performance, film, literature, dance and visual art.

Aside from extensive international and national institutional and curatorial collaborations, our two annual festivals are at the core of our programme: Only Connect Festival of Sound, a themed festival for adventurous music and art taking place across Oslo and Off The Page Oslo, a festival and independent publishing/record fair, devoted to music criticism, audio culture and sonic experiences.

With a head office in Oslo, we have a network of eleven regional branches distributed around Norway. Through this wide national network we spread dynamic and innovative music across the entire country, helping new audiences to discover routes into contemporary music.

nyMusikk is the Norwegian section of ISCM, International Society for Contemporary Music.

Our Oslo office is in the city’s Grønland district, in a combined office and concert space. It houses many of our events, as well as a specialist music library of books and journals. Apart from hosting events ourselves we collaborate nationally with institutions such as Henie Onstad Art Centre, Museum of Contemporary Art Oslo, Teknisk Museum Oslo, Kunsthall Oslo, Art Academy Oslo, as well as international institutions such as Café OTO in London, Milton Keynes Gallery, Performa New York and more.

nyMusikk is supported by Norsk kulturråd, Det norske komponistfond, Komponistenes vederlagsfond and Oslo kommune.
